Alexia Putellas reigned supreme in Spain’s opening match at the European Championships in Switzerland. Her outstanding play over the ninety minutes earned the Catalan the title of player of the match award against Portugal.
The captain scored the third goal: after an impeccable piece of control, the midfielder dribbled past two Portuguese players to set herself up for a superb shot that ended up in the back of the net. In addition, Putellas completed 85% of her passes, serving as the linchpin of Spain’s midfield.
