Clone of Montse Tomé: "The intention was always to help and listen to the players."

The national coach expresses her confidence in the professionalism of the entire team, players, and coaching staff, ahead of the match against Sweden

The national coach, Montse Tomé, has shown full confidence in the players and their professionalism, confident that tomorrow they will not be distracted: "We are all professionals." "What we are experiencing these days stems from something serious, something beyond professionalism and sports; we all know what happened on the day of the final and everything that happened afterwards, which was very unpleasant," Tomé pointed out.

Montse Tomé appeared before the media on the eve of the match her team will play this Friday against Sweden at the Gamla Ullevi Stadium in Gothenburg. A match in which she wanted to focus, after stating that "the players have trained well."

Asked about the way the call-up was communicated, Tomé was clear and unequivocal: "Perhaps there was a communication error, or in the interpretation, perhaps it was a lack of time." "My staff and I have always wanted to protect the players, support them, and support  Jenni (Hermoso)," she clarified, to explain a call-up in which she chose "the best for these matches."

 

"The intention was always to help and listen to them," explained Montse Tomé, and she reaffirmed that, before the call-up, she spoke with players, "although not with all of them," unwilling to reveal with whom or what they talked about: "It's part of professional confidentiality that I don't like to violate."

The coach empathized with the internationals and the entire off-field situation: "I feel like a player because I have been a player for many years."

"I feel confident in the work and the desire to resolve this and focus on training and playing," Tomé asserted firmly.

 

Furthermore, Tomé did not spare praise for the Swedes who will be Spain's opponents tomorrow: "We expect a strong, physical team, with a pressing defensive structure, options in attack, and especially in transition; a great team that currently leads the FIFA ranking." At the start of a new competition, the coach spoke of "enthusiasm" and of work that allows approaching the match "with guarantees."
