The captain of Spain emphasized the importance of the achievement on Sunday by winning the UEFA Nations League: "We couldn't be happier."

His spectacular performance in the semi-finals had already earned him the UEFA's recognition as the best player of the match against Italy. And on Sunday, in addition to winning the Nations League by scoring one of the penalties in the shootout, he has now conquered the title of the tournament's best player.
