All official matches this weekend will observe a minute's silence for Morocco

A gesture in memory of those who died in the earthquake in our neighbouring country will take place in both professional and non-professional football this weekend.

The 6.9 magnitude earthquake to struck in Morocco last night, leaving hundreds of casualties according to current official figures. It has also provoked an outpouring of emotion from all over Spain and, of course, from the world of football.

On this occasion, the Royal Spanish Football Federation has declared that a minute's silence will be observed before all matches played in official national competitions this weekend.

In this way, the entire football family will support the cause organised in conjunction between the RFEF and LA LIGA, remembering the victims of the earthquake with a minute’s silence before professional matches: this weekend in the Second Division and next weekend in the case of the First Division, which does not play today due to the international break.

The Royal Spanish Football Federation invites clubs and fans in our country to join in this respectful minute's silence to remember our fallen neighbours.
