At four o'clock this Sunday morning, the day of the match between Spain and Georgia, Sandra Rodríguez, her daughter Melissa and her boyfriend Martín took the car from the Swiss town of Lausanne to Cologne.

In the German city, David Raya, Rodrigo Hernández and Alejandro Grimaldo were waiting for them, along with dozens of Spain fans eager to share a very special moment with the internationals just a few hours before they play for a place in the quarter-finals of the European Championships.

Sandra and Martín are both children of Spanish parents (from A Coruña and Orense respectively) and although they were born in Switzerland, they maintain a strong bond with our country, which extends to our music.

A concert by the artist Melendi in Alicante brought them together as a couple and so they decided to name their cat after the Asturian singer, who is also a great follower of the Spanish national team.

After the match, Melendi the cat will be expecting some signatures from Spain footballers and, hopefully, Spain’s qualification for the quarter-finals in which the national team will also accept positive feline feelings as another supporter in the tournament.
