Different result, identical union

The penalty shootout of the second semifinal, like that of the first, shows how the participating teams of the Supercopa compete together at all times

The pattern has been repeated in both semifinals of the Super Cup: two teams with their arms intertwined living with the feeling of skin-deep penalty shootouts to decide the winner.

What was experienced by Real Madrid and Valencia on Wednesday was replicated by Betis and Barça in the semifinal on Thursday with the hope of qualifying and the cohesion of the group commanding equally during the decisive moment of the match.

"Is that a stop allowed?", "He guessed it", "It was a weak shot", "He hesitated to jump or not" or the already recurring: Kirikocho!, as a way of trying to  jinx the rival, are some of the expressions made by the Betis footballers during the shootout, which ended with a defeat for the Verdiblanco team, unlike what happened last year during the Copa del Rey final.

Next door, the FC Barcelona players celebrated their qualification for the game for the title with a last shot that the Spanish international Pedri, chosen as Man Of The Match for the duel, converted from eleven meters to the delight of all the Catalans.

This Sunday Real Madrid and FC Barcelona may see themselves doomed to a new episode from a fateful distance, full of emotion and drama. Something will be sure if the case arises: the sportsmanship and unity of some players who enhance this historic Spanish Supercopa with each game.
