Historic record of support from the RFEF to Spanish football: almost 135 million euros for the 2023/24 season

The president of the RFEF, Luis Rubiales, highlights that the Spanish federation is "the world's most generous in providing aid to clubs," emphasizing the support for non-professional football

The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) announced on Wednesday all the aid calls for non-professional clubs for the 2023/24 season, through which they will allocate nearly 90 million euros.

RFEF President Luis Rubiales pointed out that "by far," the Spanish federation is "the world's most generous in providing aid to clubs." "When we took office in 2018, we set out to provide resources to the clubs that needed it the most, and today we are talking about a historic figure, never before seen in Spanish football," Rubiales said in statements to RFEF's official media from New Zealand.

Luis Rubiales expressed his "great satisfaction" at being able to grant these aids, stating that it "guarantees survival and stability for the clubs that most need our best efforts." Rubiales also emphasized the support given to women's football, with increased contributions from the RFEF, as well as "futsal, another top priority of this federation," providing support through a historic package of measures for all clubs in the men's and women's First and Second Divisions.

The aid, in detail

The detailed breakdown of the almost 90 million euros allocated to non-professional football includes various concepts and programs, whose distribution criteria and amounts remain, in general, similar to the previous season.

For instance, each club competing in all non-professional state categories, and most non-professional state lower categories, will receive between 2,500 and 3,000 euros for footballs, resulting in a total amount of over 3.2 million euros.

In terms of prizes for various tournaments organized by the RFEF, the federation will allocate 478,843 euros, while aids for extra peninsular travel will surpass 4.5 million euros. Clubs in categories without specific travel assistance can apply for aid for travel and accommodation (when the distance between origin and destination exceeds 550 km.), with a reserve of 1,276,000 euros.

The most budgeted programs include "Impulso 27" (a joint program for the Second and Third Divisions with a total of 23 million euros) or "Cantera con valores" (approximately 10.6 million depending on UEFA's contribution).

Notably, the program for support to Social Security of the CSD will receive 8.8 million euros, the First Federation program will get 7 million euros, the Elite II program for women's football will receive 5.6 million euros, supplemented with over 1.5 million euros for professionalization, and the youth football promotion program will receive 2.1 million euros. Additionally, almost 5 million euros will be allocated to clubs in the First Federation or lower categories that advance through the Copa del Rey rounds.

Three areas of aid in the First Federation

In the First Federation, there will be three different areas of support: asset acquisition, RFEF aids, and distribution of real TV rights.

The aid for asset acquisition increases from 85,000€ to 100,000€, and a new aid is introduced for the promotion of the professionalization of the category, helping clubs finance players' minimum wages until the category reaches sufficient professional consolidation, and until the corresponding collective agreement attests the clubs' ability to finance minimum wages.

More support for women's football

Women's football will receive increased support, with a considerable increment in aid for clubs in the First and Second Division. This increase is channeled through a 4-year program (renewed annually) known as the "Elite II" Program.

This program is linked to the joint management of assets voluntarily provided by clubs and collaboration in the professionalization of players, with minimum labor conditions and minimum salaries required. The contributions will increase to 150,000€ per club in the First Women's Federation and 100,000€ in the Second Women's Federation.

Futsal and beach football

In futsal, the Avance 27 program will have an assigned amount of 4.3 million euros for clubs in the First and Second Division, while the Vertebración program for women's futsal increases aid to reach 1.32 million euros.

The 40x20 aid undergoes significant changes, with a considerable increase in aid for clubs in the First and Second Divisions and a 4-year program (renewed annually) known as Avance 27. This program is linked to the joint management of assets voluntarily provided by clubs and the consolidation of non-professional First Division. Contributions will increase to 160,000€ per club in the First Division and 60,000€ in the Second Division, and an additional contribution of 400,000€ will be provided for television production on TDT.

Aid for beach football will exceed 800,000 euros.
