Joselu: "We have a very tough battle ahead of us on Friday".

The Spanish striker reflected on his role at the European Championships: "Work, sacrifice and being a good person help you to achieve your dreams".

At 34, Joselu Mato is back in Stuttgart, the city where he was born and where his parents "lived for 22 years and where, as a child, he went to the stadium where Spain are due to play on Friday. Germany is a country that treated his family very well and it instilled in me a sense of respect and order that exists here", as he explained at a press conference on Wednesday.

Besides the place where he came into the world, Germany has been a great source of friendship for the national team striker, especially because of his Real Madrid teammates playing for Die Mannschaft.

For this reason, he reflected on figures such as Antonio Rüdiger and Toni Kroos, who "is a friend and a great team-mate in the dressing room. I think he is a pillar of the German team. They are a great team and are among the favourites to win the trophy. We have a very tough battle ahead of us on Friday.

Having resolved his future, Joselu announced that "I don't rule anything out, for me it's a privilege to be in the national team and to represent my country. I hope to continue producing the same performance and enjoying the dream of being with all my teammates and these people".

"I like to live in the penalty area and I'm driven by the desire to keep competing," continued the striker, who acknowledged that "I enjoy every day of football. It's not easy to get to the club I've got to and win titles, nor is it easy to get into the senior national team".

For Joselu, "work, sacrifice and being a good person help you to achieve your dreams" and for him that is what competing in this European Championships, in which "all the 26 players called up by Spain are important, is all about".

Reflecting on his long career, the striker is clear: "The road has not been easy, but everything I have done in my career has brought me here", he said at the press conference.
