The joint bid to host the 2030 World Cup makes progress in refining the project

The meeting held this Tuesday at the Ciudad del Fútbol has specified many of the points to be satisfied by the venues aspiring to host the matches of the competition

The road to making the dream shared by Spain, Portugal and Ukraine a reality took a new impetus on Tuesday with an important meeting held in the Luis Aragonés conference room at the Ciudad del Fútbol.

Important people in charge of the project, such as the director of the bid's Coordinating Committee, António Laranjo, the secretary general of the RFEF, Andreu Camps, and its director of International Relations, Jorge Mowinckel, have explained new aspects to be completed by the cities that opt to become one of the competition's venues.

The incorporation last year of Ukraine into the candidacy will not alter the fact that eleven Spanish stadiums will finally serve as venues, while three Portuguese stadiums have already been selected, which include FC Porto, SL Benfina and Sporting CP.

Once the number of venues has been established, work is now underway to meet the requirements to be part of the bid, whose specific regulations will be announced by FIFA this coming June.

Therefore, in the coming weeks the process of evaluation and digitization of the fifteen Spanish stadiums that opt to be chosen for a candidacy will begin. They will be evaluated next year by the governing body of world football.

FIFA will announce the countries that will finally host the 2030 World Cup during the second half of 2024, with the added advantage for the candidacy of Spain, Portugal and Ukraine of already being well ahead of schedule, as was made clear during this latest meeting, which will help to further perfect this exciting project.
