Luis Rubiales inaugurates the 11th La Roja Legal Conference in Granada to discuss the new Sports Law

The Conference featured a high level of speakers and an interesting debate on the new Sports Law.

In the majestic Santa Ana headquarters of the Granada Bar Association, and with the World Cup won by the Spanish National Team in 2010 as a luxury guest, Luis Rubiales inaugurated the XI Jornadas Jurídicas de La Roja, an event of the highest level in which the new Sports Law has been debated, with a sensational program of speakers. Leandro Cabrera, from the Granada Bar Association (ICAGR), and María Asunción Torres López, secretary general of the University of Granada (UGR), were present at the opening ceremony.

There were roughly four hours of talks and presentations in which all current issues were discussed, with emphasis on the new Sports Law. The academic program, directed by Miguel García Caba (deputy general secretary of the RFEF) and Ignacio Jiménez Soto (professor of Administrative Law and director of CDD-UGR), consisted of three round tables with the participation of distinguished specialists in the field. Approximately 90 minutes was allotted per table, and at the end of the round tables there was an open conversation among the attendees.

The first round table discussed "Disciplinary authority and conflict resolution in the new Sports Law: current situation and future prospects". The second was entitled: "The new Sports Law and sports entities: new developments and challenges". Finally, in the third, emphasis was placed on "Current legal issues in Spanish football: practical cases, jurisprudence and recent doctrine of national and international bodies".

The Dean Leandro Cabrera highlighted the high level of the conference, thanking all the speakers, the University of Granada and also the Royal Spanish Football Federation, recalling that this is the second time that these legal conferences are held in the Andalusian city. "It is an honor for the College to have the RFEF and to be able to host these conferences that are really very interesting, legally speaking, because we are committed to specialized training, in this case, on the new Sports Law and its impact."

The general secretary of the UGR, for her part, acknowledged that "the University shares the same values as the sport does regarding that teamwork is a guarantee of success". "The subject matter raises interest and debate, it is a very complete program with great speakers".

Luis Rubiales, in his speech and after thanking both the ICAGR and the UGR for their involvement, wanted to emphasize that debates are always enriching and that the new Sports Law welcomes many opinions. "We have to make the rigidity of the text adapt to all the needs of the parties involved, it is a very broad debate. Here are the best specialists to deal with a very interesting subject and for us it is a real honor to be here. Training is a priority in this sport and the RFEF also stands out for that".
