Official statement | RFEF opens disciplinary proceedings and removes the directors linked to the Majadahonda police investigations from their duties

  • RFEF terminates the contract with GC Legal and revokes their powers of attorney.
  • The case is being prosecuted against private individuals
  • Federation regrets the serious institutional damage to the RFEF’s image and that of Spanish football.

The Royal Spanish Football Federation has opened disciplinary proceedings against directors accused in relation to the legal case being heard by Court 4 Majadahonda (Madrid). Furthermore, it has removed them from their posts and duties. Specifically, the director of Legal Services, Pedro González Segura; and the director of Human Resources, José Javier Jiménez have been removed from their positions.

It has also terminated the external contract with GC Legal, the law firm run by Tomás González Cueto, as external control commissioner. His powers of representation in all legal proceedings have also been revoked, as have those of Ramón Caravaca and other representatives from said law firm.

In addition, the need for disciplinary investigations arising from any potential irregularities Federation employees may have produced in relation to said investigation will be assessed.

As such, the RFEF will be party to the investigation, given the significant damage it is causing to the institution and to the image of Spanish football.

These measures have been taken by the president of the RFEF's Management Committee following yesterday's events.
