The RFEF installs sustainable transport points at Ciudad del Fútbol

The initiative is supported by UEFA as part of the Climate Investment programme.

The Royal Spanish Football Federation continues to take steps towards sustainability and has installed bicycle racks for getting around within the Ciudad del Fútbol facilities. As such, showing it is committed to sustainable mobility and also promoting healthy habits.

This initiative from the Department of Equality, Social Responsibility and Sustainability has been made possible thanks to funding from UEFA, which, through their Climate Investment, laims to compensate for the tonnes of CO2 produced in matches played in Spain into specific investments that have a positive impact on improving the environment. The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) proposed the project and it has received the support of the European footballing body.

Sustainable mobility is an RFEF strategic objective and, to this end, it is developing various initiatives, including campaigns for the use of public transport to get to the matches it organises, seeking a reduction in the carbon emissions produced. An example of this is the case of the final of the Copa del Rey, where in addition to measuring the carbon footprint, the RFEF aims to reduce pollution through these initiatives and also compensates by planting trees.
