The 'Spanish National Football Team' brand will bring parity to both the men's and women's national teams.

The President of the Interim Committee of the RFEF, Pedro Rocha, states: 'Beyond a symbolic step, we want it to signify a change in concept.'

The Royal Spanish Football Federation has announced on Wednesday a complete change in the nomenclature of the national teams: the singular brand 'Spanish National Football Team' will align both the men's and women's teams.

Thus, the former denomination of the women's national team, which included the expression 'femenino' (female), was abandoned. According to the President of the Interim Committee of the RFEF, Pedro Rocha, this change is not trivial: 'Beyond a symbolic step, we want it to signify a change in concept, and the recognition that football is football, no matter who plays it.'

The logo and brand of the Spanish National Football Team, with two years of history, will serve as a common denominator for both the men's and women's national teams. It will do so in a fully uniform way, now officially including the star earned by the recent world champions.

In the case of futsal, the text denomination will be the same for both national teams - 'Spanish National Futsal Team' - with the logo differing in this case, with the men's team having two stars as world champions in 2000 and 2004. For beach football, the brand and graphics will be common.

'We don't need to differentiate the brands of both teams on any platform; depending on the context, depending on the images accompanying the logo, it is perfectly clear whether we refer to our female or male champions,' insisted Pedro Rocha. The photographs will suffice to provide information to anyone viewing a poster or publication in any of the Federation's official media.

For the President of the RFEF Interim Committee, 'language constructs us as a society, and we believe that making it clear that both teams are equal allows us to move towards a more egalitarian conception of football.' This is a direction that will be further explored in the women's competitions organized by the RFEF.
