At the age of 19 years and 41 days, he made his debut against Ukraine at Germany 2006.

Spain's history at World Cups is full of anecdotes, probably as many as there are players who have worn the national jersey at the most special tournament. However, there is one player, who can boast of having been the youngest player to make his debut with the national team in the greatest event of football. He is Francesc Fàbregas Soler, known as Cesc and with a simply spectacular career.

He was born in Arenys de Mar (Barcelona) on 4 May 1987, and he is one of the internationals with more than 100 appearances in the Spanish national team. Cesc made 110 appearances scoring 15 goals, and he made his debut on 1 March 2006 in a friendly match against Côte d'Ivoire at the José Zorrilla stadium in Valladolid. It was his first step on a long and exciting road that came shortly before the World Cup in Germany, where he made history.

Then, at the age of 19 years and 41 days, Fàbregas overtook Julen Guerrero as the youngest international to play with the Spanish national team at a World Cup, a milestone that still stands today. In the national team's debut at the tournament, which ended in an impressive 4-0 win over Ukraine, Luis Aragones called the Catalan in the 77th minute to replace Luis García and he played an active role in the goal that sealed the win for Spain, scored by Fernando Torres. It was at the Zentralstadion in Leipzig on 14 June 2006.
