An exciting and demanding road to Qatar

From Los Cármenes, the venue for the first match of the World Cup Qualifiers, to La Cartuja, the stadium where Group B's top spot was confirmed, eight matches marked the progress of the Spanish national team on their demanding, beautiful and exciting road to Qatar 2022.

With a very definite style, Luis Enrique's team showed great attitude from the first matches, coping with the 1-1 draw with Greece and then winning against Georgia - including a goal in the last minute - (1-2) and Kosovo (3-1) in the first break of matches (3-1).

Spain scored 15 goals in the qualifiers

However, the game that changed everything was the match against Sweden in Solna. There, at the Friends Arena, the Spanish squad had to bounce back from their first and only loss (2-1). It was time for them to bang their fists on the table.

The following results, 4-0 against Georgia, 0-2 against Kosovo and 0-1 in Athens, showed the progress of the team, who played against the Scandinavians in La Cartuja for a direct ticket to the World Cup.

On 14 November, on the final matchday surrounded by passionate fans, the goal from Álvaro Morata (1-0) confirmed Spain's twelfth consecutive appearance at the world's biggest international tournament.

Spain registered a total of 19 points (six wins, one draw and one loss)
