Luis Enrique: "We will take the match against Jordan very seriously"

The coach, who will manage the minutes on the pitch, stresses the importance of the match in Amman as a test before the World Cup.

In a full press room, with the local media's attention focused on Thursday's match between Jordan and Spain, Luis Enrique analysed the condition of his team. They are immersed in an exciting preparation for what is yet to come. The World Cup in Qatar, which is the real objective of the team, is just around the corner, but before that, it's time to work hard and play in Amman. This Thursday, they will play the last match before arriving in Doha.

"We are very happy to come to Jordan just a few days before the start of this exciting tournament. We're looking forward to enjoying the football in Amman," said the coach about Thursday's match. "The Jordanian team has surprised me, it's not going to be easy at all and football is levelling a lot. This match is very important to draw conclusions. We'll take it seriously".

Obviously, everyone is looking forward to the World Cup and everyone wants to know how the national team and the coach feel just a few days before getting the ball rolling in Qatar. Luis Enrique, always ambitious, talks about his goals. "The objectives for the World Cup are the same the ones that other national teams have. Competing to the maximum and try to play seven matches. We are very excited. I think we are among the national teams that can qualify for those seven matches.

After two training sessions, the coach is very optimistic and sees the internationals very committed. "I've seen the players working very well. With the exception of one or two players with some discomfort, but not serious, they are all very well. If the World Cup were to start tomorrow, they would all be ready to play. The training rigorousness is very high and I would say that we are at a very good level, almost outstanding".

Luis Enrique, who will reserve Alvaro Morata, Hugo Guillamón and Marcos Llorente for the match against Jordan as a precaution, is convinced that the players will compete as usual in Qatar. In order to be at full strength, he will give minutes in the friendly match in Amman.

After the coach's speech, Rodrigo Hernández said a few words and praised the level of the players. "We have a great team. It's a young but mature team," said the centre back. "We come with a lot of ambition, but we have to show everything on the pitch. Rodrigo insisted that they are a real team and they demonstrate it in the dressing room. That is something fundamental before an event like a World Cup. "It's one of the best groups I've ever been part of and groups win championships, I've always said that".
