Luis Rubiales: "Ibiza will help the national team to travel to the World Cup full of passion and pride".

The president of the RFEF presented in Ibiza the agreement by which Spain will play two preparation matches between 6 and 11 April next year.

"Ibiza has a double responsibility, hosting the national team and pushing it towards the World Cup". In this way, Luis Rubiales wanted to highlight the importance of the preparatory matches that the Spanish Women's National Team will play on the Balearic Island between 6 and 11 April next year. This agreement was presented on Wednesday at the Baluarte de Santa Lucia, located in the upper part of the capital of Ibiza.

This news coincides with the same week in which Spain will find out their opponents in the World Cup finals and only six days after achieving their best ever position in the FIFA Ranking.

It will be a great event that will take place on the pitch of the Palladium Can Misses stadium. This will be possible thanks to the agreement between the Spanish Football Federation, the Consell Insular of Ibiza and the Town Hall of the 'pitiusa' city, whose authorities have appreciated this happy news on Wednesday.

"Sport has no gender and those of us who are in positions of responsibility have the obligation to ensure equality," said Luis Rubiales.

On the one hand, the mayor of Ibiza, Rafa Ruiz, who stressed the importance that the visit of the national team will have for football played by women, "demonstrating, among all the institutions, that sport and world heritage can go hand in hand, helping and making known each other. And it is even so much better if it is with women's sport".

In the same vein, the president of the Consell Insular of Ibiza, Vicent Marí, who previously received Luis Rubiales at the headquarters of the organization, has pointed out how the matches that the women's national team will play next year in Can Misses "are in line with the tourism promotion strategy of our island, that in 2023 Ibiza will be consolidated as a world reference sports destination.

A fact that the president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation wanted to highlight, explaining that "the enormous power that Ibiza represents is not only focused on leisure, but also on matters as important as sport, as the national team's visit demonstrates".

"Sport has no gender", Rubiales continued, and those of us who are in positions of responsibility have the obligation to ensure equality. We have been the European federation that has grown the most in terms of women's football licences. We have been both European and world champions and right now, we are in the best position in history. We hope to live up to this, winning both matches and doing a great job at the World Cup," he concluded amid applause from those present.

The family photograph with the president of the Balearic Islands Football Federation, Pep Sansó, brought the presentation ceremony to a close. This is the start of what will be an unforgettable first visit by the team to the dazzling island of Ibiza.
