Clearly pleased with both the result and her team’s performance, Bermúdez answered journalists’ questions after the final whistle.

On Claudia Pina

“Ultimately, she has innate talent. We try to help her with small details. Not just Pina — they all have incredible talent. She has a real eye for goal, she’s in great form and we’re very happy for her.”

On Edna Imade

“We have three very versatile forwards. With Edna coming on, we were looking for those runs in behind. Her introduction gave us more presence in the box, especially arriving behind the second centre-back. The good thing about having such versatile players is that you can adapt to the match plan — and they all contribute.”

On England’s big win over Ukraine and the importance of goals

“Goals are going to be crucial, beyond the direct matches against England. Today we could have scored one or two more, and that’s where the level of demand lies.”

On Patri Guijarro’s return

“Patri gives us a lot of stability in midfield. Today we needed composure, and she helped us a lot defensively, especially with the recovery runs, which aren’t easy. We want her to build up minutes with us because she’s a key player for us.”

On Vicky López’s performance

“Vicky is good with her left foot, her right foot — she’s electric. We wanted to create those three-versus-two situations. She had a very good game, taking players on whenever she could. With every match she plays, she keeps growing, and today she had a great performance.”

Overall assessment

“The objective was the three points. There were moments in the game when we could have scored more. Their goalkeeper performed very well. We value these three points very positively. In the second half we increased the tempo, and we’re happy with the win.”
