Spain’s Squad for the Final UEFA Nations League Group-Stage Matches
Spain’s national team are preparing for their final training camp of the season, which will feature the two matches that bring the UEFA Nations League group stage to a close.
The first fixture will take place on Thursday, 12 November, when Spain travel to face Czechia at Prague’s Letná Stadium, with kick-off at 20:45. Their second and final match will be against England at Madrid’s Metropolitano Stadium on Sunday, 15 November, also at 20:45. Spain will therefore conclude the group stage in front of their home fans, hoping to finish top of Group A3. Qualification for the quarter-finals was already secured during the previous international window, with the team currently boasting a perfect record of 12 points from 12.
Luis de la Fuente announced his 27-man squad in a video that acknowledged the period of mourning across Spain. “We have been struck by a terrible tragedy that should never have happened. An entire country is grieving once again, before the tears over Adamuz had even dried,” the coach explained in a solemn video that focused not on football as a sport, but on its ability to bring people together during such difficult times.
“Football has a social responsibility and must stand on the right side of history,” Luis de la Fuente stated. The squad announcement is intended as a tribute both to the victims of the rail accidents and to Jesús de Miguel, the CD Tenerife player who recently passed away.
The RFEF and the national team once again extend their heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones affected, and offer their deepest support and encouragement as they face the difficult days ahead.
