A SPECTACULAR Spain beats EEUU, the top women's football team (2-0)

The Spanish women's national team beat the United States team for the first time in their history after a determined game from our team

Spain arrived at El Sadar with the desire and respect that comes when playing against the best team in the world, according to the FIFA ranking. This respect disappeared as the minutes went by and the desire accompanied our internationals right to the end.

In the first half, the players led by Jorge Vilda controlled the ball from the beginning to the end. Spain combined with criteria, pressed after a very high turnover, and were very effective in defensive transitions. The only thing missing was a goal, and in the 39 minute, Laia Codina made the 11,209 spectators at El Sadar scream and jump after scoring the first goal of the game (1-0).

The FC Barcelona debutant centre back took advantage of several rejections at the penalty spot, following a corner, to be the leader and score the first goal of her career as an international.

In the second half, Spain didn't take their foot off the accelerator, they didn't want to relax and continued to show great defensive strength.

The Americans looked for Misa's goal without success, they left more spaces at the back and Spain didn't hesitate to take advantage of that moment. In the 73 minute, Esther Gonzalez scored the second goal of the match after a great cross from Oihane Hernández (2-0).

With this victory, the national team closed a great stage after drawing against Sweden (1-1) and winning against a world champion like EEUU
