This was more than just a match—it was a final. In a packed La Cartuja Stadium with nearly 70,000 fans roaring, both sides chased the crown. Atlético hadn’t won the Copa since 2013, while La Real were aiming to repeat their 2021 triumph at the same venue.

And what a start. Just 14 seconds in, Ander Barrenetxea fired Real Sociedad ahead with the fastest goal in Copa history, finishing off a cross from Gonçalo Guedes. The early strike stunned Atlético and sent the txuri-urdin fans into chaos.

Atlético responded. After early chances at both ends, Ademola Lookman made it 1–1 in the 18th minute, finishing a move involving Antoine Griezmann. But just before half-time, a penalty—won by Guedes and calmly converted by Mikel Oyarzabal—restored Real Sociedad’s lead.

The second half saw Atlético push hard, but La Real held firm. With ten minutes left, Julián Álvarez smashed home the equaliser to make it 2–2 and force extra time.

Both teams had chances in extra time—Real Sociedad through Soler and Óskarsson, Atlético hitting the woodwork—but neither could find the winner. It all came down to penalties.

There, Unai Marrero became the hero, saving spot-kicks from Sørloth and Julián Álvarez. With everything on the line, Pablo Marín stepped up and coolly scored the decisive penalty, sealing glory for Real Sociedad.

A night of drama, tension, and unforgettable moments—ending in pure joy for La Real fans in Seville.
