Clone of Spain turns up the heat in Dallas
Fresh off a dominant 3-0 win over Austria in Los Angeles, Luis de la Fuente's squad is already focused on Monday's huge Iberian showdown against Portugal, with a place in the quarter-finals on the line.
The team touched down in Dallas just before 9:00 p.m. local time, arriving to a city in the middle of a scorching heatwave, with temperatures pushing 40°C (104°F).
Monday's clash will be played at the iconic Dallas Stadium in Arlington, where Spain and Portugal will meet for the 42nd time—and for the third time at a FIFA World Cup, following their memorable encounters in 2010 and 2018.
Preparation begins on Saturday with the team's first training session in Texas at the Cotton Bowl Stadium. Afterwards, Spain captain Unai Simón—now the nation's all-time World Cup clean-sheet leader—will speak to the media from the team hotel as the countdown to another massive knockout night gets underway.
