A team takes off. A nation soars.
After saying goodbye to their fans last night in Riazor, the entire squad leaves Spain behind to begin their World Cup journey.
The flight carrying the national side to the United States took off from Santiago–Rosalía de Castro Airport shortly after 11:00 a.m. local time and is scheduled to land at Nashville International Airport after 7:00 p.m. — seven hours behind local Spanish time.
From there, the team will take another flight bound for Chattanooga, Tennessee, which will serve as their base camp during the group stage. Arrival is expected at 3:15 p.m. local time — six hours behind mainland Spain.
The national team will head to North America in search of their second World Cup star, with their opening group matches set against Cape Verde (June 15), Saudi Arabia (June 21), and Uruguay (June 27). The hopes of a nation rest on a team ready to make history.
