19 July 2026 will forever remain one of the defining dates of the Almería-born midfielder's career. On that day, Baena not only became a world champion but also accomplished something no footballer had achieved before: completing a consecutive international treble by reigning across Germany, Paris, and the United States, Mexico and Canada. Since 2024, the Roquetas de Mar native has lifted the European Championship trophy, claimed Olympic gold, and now added the FIFA World Cup to an extraordinary collection.

Outstanding performances on the left flank and a consistently exceptional FIFA World Cup campaign elevated Baena to this historic milestone, making him the only player to complete this unprecedented trio of major international honours in succession.

A Decisive World Cup

Baena played a pivotal role throughout Spain's victorious campaign. In the final group-stage match against Uruguay, he scored the only goal of the game, securing a 1–0 victory and earning the Player of the Match award.

That decisive strike ensured Spain advanced to the knockout rounds as group winners, avoiding an early meeting with Argentina. Instead, the two nations would eventually meet in a historic World Cup final, where Spain claimed its second world title.
