“Being able to play any match for this national team is incredible”
The Spanish international forward spoke to the media in the Villalonga press room at the Football City to discuss the current training camp and his form.
Spain’s 2010 World Cup-winning team: “The Spain team back then was an incredible side, with legends and players who made history with Spain. If they played a match against us, it would certainly be great to watch.”
Frustration: “I try to learn from him. He’s a very good friend who is with me every day. Being able to watch him train day after day is a privilege for me, and he helps me a lot.”
Level: “You can always see the team’s level, both in training and in matches. Every training session is something really special to share with them... The speed of the ball, the runs, the chemistry between everyone — I think it shows on the pitch.”
🎙️ “You can see the level of this team both in training and in matches. The speed of the ball and the chemistry we have are something unique.”
➡️ “All of that is then reflected on the pitch.”

Spanish players abroad: “I wouldn’t really know what to say. When you go abroad, you get different perspectives. Spanish players are always valued, wherever they are.”
Rotations: “Being able to play any match for this national team is incredible. I don’t know what the coach’s intentions are. Everyone is doing well and everyone wants to play.”
Luis de la Fuente: “He asks me to be myself on the pitch, to contribute offensively and defensively and to try to be direct.”
🎙️ “Luis de la Fuente asks me to be myself and do what I do best: be direct and take on my opponent one-on-one.”
➡️ “To make the most of my strengths and put them at the service of the team.”

Atmosphere: “We focus on our work, which is going very well. The atmosphere is really pleasant. Living with them every day is incredible, there’s so much quality and that makes the difference.”
Ballon d’Or: “I would give it to a Spanish player.”
Liverpool: “I really enjoy following La Liga, and I notice quite a few differences. Here it’s more tactical, while there it’s more physical. The intensity and physical work are very demanding there, and that’s helping me develop.”
Taking it all in: “I think everything has happened so quickly that I haven’t really had time to take it all in. You try to enjoy every step and every stage, and I’m focused on each match with the national team.”
World Cup: “Just going to the World Cup is a dream, and winning it with this family is incredible. I went through some difficult moments because you feel your body has nothing left, you don’t make it to the match, you keep suffering setbacks and you’re unable to be at 100% during the competition. I learned to understand my body. When you’re young, you think you can handle everything. It helped me mature a lot. Having lived that experience with my friends and family is something I’ll cherish forever.”
Playing in Seville: “It’s always incredible to play for Spain and represent your country. Difficult moments come back to your mind. Right now, I’m in a good moment.”
