Dani Carvajal: The Story Continues

Strength, determination, leadership and passion. These are just some of the qualities most often associated with Dani Carvajal, one of the standout figures of La Roja in recent years.

The full-back from Leganés has long been an example for both Spanish supporters and his teammates, a status that has only grown following the serious knee injury he sustained on 5 October last year. That day brought the harshest side of football, but rather than give in, Carvajal found motivation and strength in the immense support he received: “It’s been a long and difficult recovery, but I can now say I’ve overcome it. There were tough moments, but I’ve taken the positives — above all, reconnecting with my family and enjoying time with them.”

Now 33, and after eleven months away from Luis de la Fuente’s squads, Carvajal, capped 51 times for Spain, returns determined to give his all for a group setting out with renewed hope on the road to the 2026 World Cup. It is the one major trophy missing from his international career, after lifting the Nations League in 2023 and the UEFA EURO 2024 crown, where he played a decisive role.

The legacy of Spain’s No. 2 is already a remarkable one, full of unforgettable moments, and it continues to be written through perseverance and hard work since his debut on 4 September 2014 against France.
