The PSG international from Valencia had been carrying an issue with his left ankle which initially did not prevent him from training or playing, but as the symptoms have persisted, it has been decided to release the player from the squad in order to prioritise his recovery.

The Spanish Federation’s doctors have remained in constant contact with his club’s medical staff since the beginning of the camp, and the entire process has been monitored jointly.

As a result, Luis de la Fuente has decided to call up Spain Under-21 international Carlos Espí, who will join the senior squad ahead of the matches against Czechia and Croatia in Oviedo and Split.
