Final training session before travelling to Atlanta
The squad trained on the pitch at the Baylor School, only hours before leaving their team hotel in Chattanooga to set off for Atlanta, the venue for their opening match at the FIFA World Cup.
The team are in the final stages of preparation ahead of what is effectively their penultimate session before facing Cape Verde on Monday at 18:00 Spanish peninsular time — a historic fixture for several reasons. It will be the first ever meeting between Spain and the African side, and it will also mark Cape Verde’s debut match in FIFA World Cup history.
The squad is scheduled to depart Chattanooga in the mid-afternoon local time — around midnight in Spain — heading towards their first World Cup destination, Atlanta, where they are expected to arrive approximately two hours later. Once in the capital of the state of Georgia, Spain will train again on Sunday at the match venue, as part of their final preparations ahead of the opener. In addition, national team coach Luis de la Fuente and one selected player will attend the official pre-match press conference.
