Football Pays Tribute to the Victims of the Toledo Rail Accident
The Copa del Rey Mapfre matches played on Thursday began with a respectful minute’s silence in memory of the victims.
The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), as a mark of respect and solidarity with all those affected by the tragic rail accident in the province of Toledo, has decreed a minute’s silence before the start of matches in all national football and futsal competitions organised under its auspices this coming weekend. The tributes began with Thursday’s fixtures in the first round of the Copa de SM el Rey. The Federation will also encourage players to wear black armbands in memory of those who lost their lives and those affected by the tragedy.
Similarly, the RFEF, together with LALIGA, has agreed to hold a minute’s silence at all first- and second-division matches in memory of the victims of the accident in Urda.
