Goals as gifts

The national team posted record-breaking numbers in a hugely prolific 2025 in front of goal.

The year we’ve just wrapped up will live long in the memory of Spain fans for many reasons: the brilliant qualification for next summer’s World Cup, the incredible unbeaten run — now extended to 31 consecutive official matches — and the milestone of placing both senior national teams at the very top of the FIFA rankings.

But one of the other big headlines of 2025 was the sheer attacking power of Luis de la Fuente’s side, averaging more than three goals per game and showcasing outstanding quality in their finishes.

Spain played a total of 10 matches last year, all official fixtures, finding the back of the net 33 times. The team also remained unbeaten in regulation time — six wins and four draws.

Between March and November, Spain celebrated more than 30 goals, scored by as many as ten different players: Mikel Oyarzabal (9), Mikel Merino (8), Lamine Yamal (3), Pedri González (3), Nico Williams (2), Martín Zubimendi (2), Ferran Torres (2), Marc Cucurella, Yeremy Pino, and Dani Olmo. Beyond those impressive figures, the sheer beauty of many of those goals deserves special mention.

Nico Williams opened his goalscoring account for 2025 on March 20 in Rotterdam against the Netherlands, while Mikel Oyarzabal brought the curtain down on a record-setting year on November 18 at La Cartuja in Seville against Turkey. Enjoy the selection of Spain’s five best goals!
