“I Thank Seville for Such an Emotional Match”
The Spanish national team delivered an outstanding performance in its first home match since winning the World Cup. Luis de la Fuente’s side secured a 4-1 victory at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán Stadium, adding another three points to their UEFA Nations League campaign. As usual, the Spanish coach addressed the media after the match.
Lamine Yamal: “I don't like to single out individuals, but sometimes it's impossible not to. He is a very generous footballer who puts his individual talent at the service of the team. We are lucky to have him with us. Within the group, he is someone who is very easy to love, and we are very happy with him.”
🎙️ “I would highlight Lamine Yamal’s work both collectively and individually. He always puts his football at the service of the team.”

Spain’s shortcomings: “Because of my professional background and my demanding nature, I am very much a perfectionist. There is always room for improvement. This group of players feels exactly the same way. The room for improvement is huge because they haven't reached their ceiling. This is a very young national team with a lot ahead of it.”
Grimaldo: “Tomorrow we’re going to run some tests on him. He felt some discomfort in his quadriceps with a particular movement. We’ll see tomorrow what it actually is. It won't be anything major, but perhaps enough for him to miss these next two matches.”
Zubimendi: “There was a moment when I got worried because he put his hand on the back of his leg, but he shook his head to say no. When he came off, he told me that he has played a lot of matches without getting many minutes and that he was feeling some tightness in his calves.”
Seville: “I should have said this when I sat down. I’ve just come from an interview with some colleagues and I mentioned it there. Thank you, Seville. The welcome was incredible, the marching band was amazing, it was incredibly emotional and I can only say thank you. You couldn't feel prouder to be here.”
Fabián: “We need to give much more recognition to all Spanish footballers. The history of the Ballon d'Or owes a lot to Spanish football. This would be the time to do it because they are the best in the world.”
