It happened this Thursday at the stadium of FC Twente in the Netherlands, where Jesús Navas started in the UEFA Nations League semi-final, in which Spain brilliantly defeated the Italian team.
Born in the town of Los Palacios y Villafranca in Seville, Jesús Navas González made his debut for the national team on November 14, 2009, in a friendly match against Argentina held at the Vicente Calderón stadium.
Under the guidance of Vicente del Bosque, he became a world and European champion with Spain between 2010 and 2012, accumulating 47 caps to date while representing the national team.
Navas is thus the first player to play for the national team after surpassing the age of 37 (he will turn 38 in November), leading an illustrious list of veterans that includes the only Ballon d'Or winner born in Spain (Luis Suárez), another world and European champion (David Villa), and the Basque striker Aritz Aduriz, who holds the record for the oldest goal scorer for the national team.
