At just 18 years of age, Lamine Yamal is already living a life far removed from that of most teenagers his age.

The FC Barcelona forward is preparing to take part in another major tournament with the Spain national team—his third senior international competition despite his youth, following UEFA Euro 2024 and the 2025 UEFA Nations League.

Currently in the final stages of his recovery, Yamal already knows what it means to lift silverware in Spain colours. On 14 July 2024, at Berlin's Olympiastadion Berlin, he helped Spain claim a fourth European title with a 2-1 victory over England in the UEFA European Championship final.

"We're extremely excited. We arrive at the World Cup as European champions and we're going there to compete for everything."

Wearing the No. 19 shirt, Yamal has also amassed an impressive collection of individual honours. At just 17 years old, he became the youngest-ever recipient of the prestigious Golden Boy award. He was also named Young Player of the Tournament at UEFA Euro 2024 and remains the only footballer to have won the Kopa Trophy twice.

His growing list of accolades also includes the Laureus Breakthrough of the Year Award (2024), Laureus World Sportsman of the Year Award for Young Athletes (2025), Spain's National Sports Award for Breakthrough Athlete, as well as distinctions from FIFPRO, IFFHS and the Globe Soccer Awards.

Fresh from helping FC Barcelona secure the La Liga title, Yamal has answered the national team's call once again and admits he is eager to pull on the Spain shirt and experience a FIFA World Cup for the very first time.

For the young forward, the World Cup represents "a different tournament" from any other he has played in.

Born in Esplugues de Llobregat and raised in the Rocafonda district of Mataró, Yamal has become one of the standout figures in a Spain squad arriving at the global showpiece in excellent form.

Spain head into the tournament unbeaten in their last 31 consecutive competitive internationals, underlining the confidence and momentum with which they approach football's biggest stage.
