New Destination, Same Objective

The Spain women's national team has gathered in Palma with the same excitement, enthusiasm and determination as ever—albeit in different surroundings.

Away from their usual base at Las Rozas, the 25 selected internationals arrived throughout Monday morning at the hotel that will serve as their home during this crucial training camp in Mallorca.

Two important challenges now lie ahead. The first comes on Friday, 5 June, when Spain face England at Estadi Mallorca Son Moix at 21:00. Four days later, on 9 June, they travel to Reykjavík to take on Iceland at Laugardalsvöllur.

These fixtures represent Matchdays 5 and 6 of the qualifying campaign and the final international window before the summer break. With six points still available, direct qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup in Brazil remains firmly within reach.

The reigning world champions know that the decisive battle for top spot in Group A3 will come against England, currently their main rivals for the automatic qualification berth.

As a result, the mood within the camp has been a blend of excitement at being reunited and complete focus on the challenge ahead.

Motivation High Ahead of Crucial Encounters

The squad announcement was delivered by Mallorca native Virginia Torrecilla, whose emotional message revealed the names of the 25 selected players.

Defending the world title won in Australia and New Zealand in 2023—and earning the opportunity to do so in Brazil in 2027—remains the team's ultimate objective. Before that, however, Spain must negotiate two significant hurdles over the next nine days.

The players have arrived highly motivated, eager to overtake England at the summit of Group A3 and secure the position that guarantees direct qualification for the next FIFA Women's World Cup.

Open Training Session in Palma

Spain's internationals will hold an open training session at the Ciudad Deportiva Antonio Asensio beginning at 18:15 local time. Gates will open one hour earlier, with free admission available until capacity is reached.

The session marks the start of preparations for two demanding fixtures that could prove decisive in Spain's road to Brazil 2027.

With a new destination but the same ambition, the world champions are fully focused on the task ahead. Their objective remains unchanged: qualify for Brazil and continue their journey at the summit of world football.
