Of the 48 nations that began their World Cup journey on 11 June, only two have reached the destination every team dreamed of: the FIFA World Cup Final in New Jersey.

Thirty-five days after the tournament began, Spain will compete for a second world title after defeating France 2-0 in Dallas to secure their place in Sunday's showpiece at the iconic MetLife Stadium.

Just minutes before departing for New Jersey, the Spain squad discovered the identity of their final opponents. Argentina booked their place in the final after coming from behind to defeat England 2-1. Anthony Gordon had given England the lead before Enzo Fernández equalised in the 86th minute and Lautaro Martínez struck the winner deep into stoppage time.

Spain's delegation landed at Newark Liberty International Airport at 21:30 local time before travelling by road to the team's base at the MC Autograph Collection hotel in Montclair, approximately 30 kilometres from Manhattan.

Preparations for the World Cup Final will begin on Thursday with a training session scheduled for 11:00 at the New York Red Bulls' Melanie Lane Training Facility. The opening 15 minutes will be open to accredited media before La Rojacontinue their preparations for the biggest match of the tournament.
