Patri Guijarro Named MVP of the Iberdrola Women’s Supercopa Final
The FC Barcelona midfielder received the award after being voted Player of the Match by the Spanish national team coaching staff.
Patri Guijarro played a decisive role in FC Barcelona’s triumph in the Iberdrola Women’s Supercopa at Castalia, earning the MVP award after an outstanding performance in the final.
Recently back on the pitch after more than three months out through injury, the Spanish international was instrumental in securing the title. Guijarro repeats the achievement of last season, having also been named MVP in last year’s Supercopa final in Leganés.
With this victory in Castellón de la Plana, the midfielder lifted her sixth Supercopa de España title — matching FC Barcelona’s own haul — following previous successes in 2020, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025.
The award was presented after the match by Ibán Molina Saera, Iberdrola’s Institutional Delegate in the Valencian Community.
From the Castalia directors’ box, former international Sonia Bermúdez selected the Barça number 12 as the standout player of the final. Immediately after full time, Guijarro posed proudly with the trophy after receiving it from Molina Saera.
Speaking to the media afterwards, the Palma de Mallorca native expressed her satisfaction with both the team’s performance and her own contribution:
“When you come back from a long injury, you have to take things step by step. I’m very demanding of myself and I gave 200 per cent. I can be happy with what I brought to the team.”
Asked about the balance of the contest for long spells, Guijarro highlighted the quality of the opposition:
“We knew how strong Real Madrid are, especially on the counter-attack. We have to be pleased with the performance — it was a great match, worthy of a final — and with winning this sixth Supercopa.”
She concluded by underlining Barça’s ambitions for the season ahead:
“We need to enjoy this Supercopa, but we’re going to fight for every title. That’s our objective, and this team is capable of doing it.”
