RFEF president welcomes King Felipe VI to La Cartuja
Rafael Louzán welcomed Felipe VI to La Cartuja Stadium ahead of the Copa del Rey final.
Joined by Juan Manuel Moreno and Milagros Tolón, the RFEF president received the King on his arrival at the stadium hosting the final of Spain’s most historic competition.
The thrilling clash between Atlético de Madrid and Real Sociedad—eventually decided on penalties in favor of the Basque side—lit up a true celebration of Spanish football in Seville.
Before kick-off, the King carried out the traditional greeting of authorities present at the stadium, including Isabel Díaz Ayuso, Imanol Pradales, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes and Alejandro Blanco, along with the mayors of Seville, Madrid and San Sebastián.
Club presidents Enrique Cerezo and Jokin Aperribay presented personalized shirts to the King ahead of kick-off, in a final that featured a spectacular pre-match light and music show in front of a packed stadium.
At half-time, Louzán also gifted the King a miniature replica of the trophy, decorated in the colors of both finalists.
After a 2–2 draw in regular time, it was Pablo Marín who scored the decisive penalty, sealing victory for Real Sociedad. Mikel Oyarzabal then received the trophy from the King on the La Cartuja podium, bringing the cup back to San Sebastián.
