RFEF to Forward Request to UEFA and FIFA for LaLiga Fixture to Be Played in Miami
The Board of Directors of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has given its approval to process the request submitted by FC Barcelona and Villarreal CF for the staging of their Matchday 17 LaLiga fixture in the United States.
At its meeting held on 11 August 2025, the RFEF Board reviewed the application from Villarreal CF and FC Barcelona to host the Matchday 17 fixture of the Primera División in the United States.
Following receipt and verification of the relevant documentation, and subsequent approval by the Board of Directors, the RFEF will forward the request to UEFA to commence the necessary procedures for FIFA’s final authorisation to stage the match at the “Hard Rock Stadium” in Miami (United States, under the jurisdiction of the USSF and CONCACAF) on 20 December 2025, in accordance with the FIFA International Match Regulations and the applicable provisions approved by the RFEF.
