Rafael Louzán, a Key Figure at the World Football Summit in Madrid
The president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) took part as a speaker at the international football summit, where he expressed pride in the work of Luis de la Fuente and the achievements of the Spanish national team, following two victories that bring Spain closer to qualification for the 2026 World Cup.
Rafael Louzán was one of the featured speakers on the opening day of the World Football Summit Madrid 2025, a two-day event held in the Spanish capital. In his address to the attendees, Louzán outlined the main pillars of the new era the RFEF has entered since he assumed the presidency.
His participation came shortly after returning from Valladolid, where he attended Spain’s victory over Bulgaria—a new demonstration of the team’s quality under Luis de la Fuente—which further strengthens Spain’s path toward the World Cup. “We are delighted with the work carried out by the entire human and technical team at the RFEF, who gave their all to ensure that everything went perfectly once the match began. Spain is proud of this team, of how the national side is performing under Luis de la Fuente’s leadership—a great person and an outstanding professional who knows how to get the very best out of his players,” Louzán stated.
The president went on to outline the foundations of a Federation that has managed “to bring peace. We have sought to ensure that all stakeholders in football are united and working together, avoiding unnecessary controversies.”
The major economic dimensions of Spanish football and tournaments such as the Copa del Rey Mapfre and the Spanish Super Cup, along with the international expansion of official competitions and the major challenge of the 2030 FIFA World Cup—to be hosted by Spain alongside five other countries across three continents—were among the key themes addressed in Louzán’s presentation.
