Rafael Louzán chairs the meeting of the Refereeing System Reform Committee in its final session of the year
The president of the RFEF highlighted the progress achieved in recent months, reiterating the importance of this forum for dialogue in which all sectors of Spanish football are represented.
With the attendance of LALIGA president Javier Tebas, CTA director Fran Soto, AFE president David Aganzo, and representatives of professional referees and clubs, Rafael Louzán chaired on Tuesday morning the latest meeting of the Refereeing System Reform Committee.
This permanent forum for dialogue, created to foster improvements in all aspects of Spanish refereeing, held its final session of the year, during which the advancements made in recent months were reviewed.
In his address, the RFEF president underscored the series of improvements implemented by the Technical Committee of Referees, outlined by its director, Fran Soto, who stressed that integrity, merit and transparency remain — and will continue to be — the guiding principles of refereeing in service of the game.
Among the initiatives highlighted was the “Tiempo de Revisión” programme, which each week examines, with an educational approach, various incidents from the most recent matchday across the First Division, Second Division and Liga F.
Other matters discussed included the progressive removal of territorial limitations in referee appointments, the strengthening of relations with clubs and institutions, the pursuit of unified criteria and higher technical accuracy, as well as ongoing efforts devoted to referee training.
As a concluding reflection, the RFEF president emphasised the importance of ensuring that all clubs and football stakeholders are represented in this committee, which remains consistently open to dialogue and dedicated to the collective improvement of every aspect of refereeing in Spain.
