Following his meeting on Wednesday with the Spanish ambassador, Miguel Alonso Berrio, and his attendance at the official pre-match dinner alongside Gueorgi Ivanov, president of the Bulgarian Football Union, the RFEF president concluded on Thursday the institutional program arranged for his visit to the Balkan country.

In the morning, Rafael Louzán met with the Mayor of Sofia, Vassil Terziev, during which they addressed various matters of mutual interest, explored possible future initiatives for collaboration, and carried out the customary exchange of gifts.

On this occasion, the RFEF president presented the mayor with a personalized Spanish national team jersey, just hours before Spain’s first-ever official fixture in Bulgaria in its more than 100-year history.

In return, Mayor Terziev presented Louzán with a medal bearing the coat of arms of the city of Sofia, as well as an informative book about the Bulgarian capital.

Later in the evening, the RFEF president was due to attend the match at the Vasil Levski National Stadium as the highest representative of Spanish football’s governing body, showing his support for the national team in its opening FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifier.
