Three major final stages of as many competitions were officially presented this Wednesday by the president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) during his visit on the opening day of the International Tourism Fair, FITUR 2026.
Rafael LouzĂĄn first visited the exhibition space of Ăvoris CorporaciĂłn Empresarial, where he presented a Spain national team jersey to its president, Vicente Fenollar.
Subsequently, at the Melilla stand and alongside Melillaâs Regional Minister for Sport, Miguel Ăngel FernĂĄndez; the Director General for Sports Policy, Ăngel Guerrero; and the president of the RFMF, Diego MartĂnez, the RFEF president presented the final phase of the Womenâs Beach Soccer First Division. The event will be hosted by the autonomous city between July 10 and 12 this year.
A few weeks earlier, the Copa de la Reina Iberdrola will reach its climax at a major sporting venue such as the Gran Canaria Stadium, a chosen host venue for the 2030 World Cup, which will stage the final of the 45th edition of the competition on May 16.
This highly significant event, framed within the centenary celebrations of the Inter-Insular Football Federation of Las Palmas, highlightsâaccording to the RFEF presidentââthe excellent moment womenâs football is experiencing in our country, as demonstrated by last monthâs UEFA Nations League final in Madrid or the current Spanish Super Cup. We are on the right path, and for that reason we thank the institutions for their firm commitment to organizing such a major event.â
The president of the Gran Canaria Island Council, Antonio Morales, also expressed his gratitude for the trust placed in the island to host the final, which will bring the Copa de la Reina to an island that, he said, âis much more than that: an idea centered on health and social cohesion, in which football is deeply embedded in our history. We have enormous logistical and human capacity to place at the service of this landmark event.â The event was also attended by the mayor of Las Palmas, Carolina Darias; the island councilors for Sport, Aridany Romero, and Tourism, Carlos Ălamo; the president of the Inter-Insular Federation of Las Palmas, Juan JosĂ© Arencibia; and international footballer Raquel Peña Pisco.
Another major competition in futsal will take place on the weekend of May 23 and 24 in the city of CĂĄceres, with the Final Four of the Futsal Copa del Rey, which was also presented this Wednesday at the Extremadura space at FITUR.
Before the RFEF president, the Director General for Youth and Sport of the Regional Government of Extremadura, Santiago Amaro, expressed his gratitude and enthusiasm for the organizational challenge of the tournament. Rafael LouzĂĄn described it as âa great celebration of futsal and an example of the many things we want to do this year. We will continue working hand in hand with the different public administrations to keep organizing major competition finals and ensure their success.â
During his speech, Rafael LouzĂĄn also conveyed condolences, remembrance and tribute to the dozens of victims of the recent railway accidents in the provinces of CĂłrdoba and Barcelona. The RFEF president concluded his visit to FITUR by touring various exhibition spaces, including those dedicated to the Catalan city of Castelldefels, the Portuguese destination of Albufeira, and the airline Iberia, where he met with its president, Marco Sansavini.
