Rafael Louzán with the clubs participating in the Preliminary Round of the Copa del Rey Mapfre

The President of the RFEF paid tribute to the territorial-category clubs in a ceremony held at the Ciudad del Fútbol, ahead of the draw that will pair the participants in the Preliminary Round of the Spanish Championship — a day described as “historic” for the clubs.

The twenty clubs that will enter the draw for the Preliminary Round of the Spanish Championship  Copa de SM el Rey Mapfre 2025–2026 enjoyed an unforgettable day at the headquarters of the Royal Spanish Football Federation.

Prior to the draw, which took place in the Luis Aragonés Hall, representatives of the territorial-category teams held a working session at the Ciudad del Fútbol, during which they were informed of all the details concerning the Preliminary Round of the competition.

On the occasion of this historic event for grassroots football and for the twenty participating clubs, the President of the RFEF, Rafael Louzán, welcomed the teams to the Federation headquarters and presented them with a personalized table football player figurine as a keepsake of their participation in the tournament.

In his address, Louzán remarked: “This is a historic day for many of you, for your teams, as you take part in the Copa del Rey Mapfre. We are pleased to have improved the competition format, drawing on past experience, for the benefit of the clubs, with a two-legged tie and proximity-based criteria. We trust these changes will strengthen the competition.”

The regional-category clubs taking part in the Preliminary Round of the Copa del Rey Mapfre are: CD Alberti, Getxo CD, Universitario FC, UD Los Garres, CD Yuncos, CF Campanario, Sporting de Ceuta, Atlètic Sant Just FC, Betis CF Valladolid, Manises CF, CD Lourdes, SD Negreira, SD Textil Escudo, Atlético Calatayud, UD Macarena, Atlético Melilla CF, Atlético Palma del Río CF, CF Inter de Valdemoro, CD Sant Jordi, and Puerto de Vega CF.
