Spain National Team Pays Tribute to Dani Olmo for His 50th International Appearance
During Spain’s opening match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Dani Olmo made his 50th appearance for the national team at Atlanta Stadium. Although the goalless draw against Cape Verde was not the desired result, reaching this landmark is a source of pride for any international player, particularly on the World Cup stage.
In the 81st minute, in front of nearly 70,000 spectators, Spain’s number 10 entered the field in an attempt to help the team secure a winning goal. While that goal did not come, Olmo nevertheless achieved a significant milestone: fifty appearances for the national team in just over six years.
The forward made his senior debut for Spain on another 15th day of the month—15 November 2019. Since then, he has scored 12 goals and was part of the squad that won UEFA Euro 2024. These statistics and achievements still have room to grow, as the 28-year-old is currently enjoying one of the finest periods of his career.
Later, at the team hotel, Spain head coach Luis de la Fuente and Aitor Karanka, Technical Director for Development and the Senior Men’s National Team, presented Olmo with a commemorative jersey in recognition of his 50 appearances.
Such a milestone is not achieved every day.
