As part of their preparation for the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026, which will take place this summer in United States, Mexico, and Canada, the Spain national football team will play a friendly match on Friday, March 27 at 21:00. The opponent will be the Serbia national football team, and the venue will be Estadio de la Cerámica.

The national team will travel to the city of Vila-real in the province of Castellón to face the Balkan side in a demanding match at the home stadium of Villarreal CF, a venue with a capacity of 21,332 spectators.

This will be the fourth time Spain has played at the “Yellow Submarine’s” stadium. The team remains unbeaten there so far, having defeated the San Marino national football team (9–0) and the Chile national football team (3–0) in 1999 and 2008 respectively, and drawing 1–1 against the Switzerland national football team in 2018.

As for the opponent, Spain and Serbia have faced each other three times. The record favors Spain, with two wins and one draw. Their most recent meeting came in the UEFA Nations League in 2024, when Spain won with goals from Aymeric Laporte, Álvaro Morata, and Álex Baena.

After playing Georgia national football team in Elche and the Netherlands national football team in Valencia, the match in Vila-real will be the third game the Spanish national team has played in the Valencian Community over the past year.
