After defeating Georgia away in the opening matchday, Luis de la Fuente’s side repeated their success in their second fixture, overcoming Turkey in a brilliant display that ended 0-6.
As a result, Spain top Group 5 with six points, having scored nine goals and conceded none. They are therefore the team with the best goal difference in Europe following the first international window.
Among the other rivals, Georgia sit second after a 3-0 win over Bulgaria, who remain bottom of the group. Turkey, meanwhile, are third, also with three points.
Spain’s next fixtures will be against Georgia (11 October) and Bulgaria (14 October), to be played at the Martínez Valero Stadium in Elche and the José Zorrilla Stadium in Valladolid, respectively.
