The Estadio Cuauhtémoc will host Spain’s final test upon arrival in the Americas, just seven days before the team’s World Cup debut. The fixture will see Spain travel to Mexico to take on the Peru national team in their last match before the tournament begins.

The President of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, Rafael Louzán, will travel to Mexico in the coming weeks to take part in the official presentation of the match alongside Alejandro Armenta Mier, Governor of the State of Puebla, who has played a key role in bringing Spain to the region, in line with the vision of Mexico’s President, Claudia Sheinbaum, to promote sport. This follows close collaboration between the RFEF and the authorities of the State of Puebla, laying the groundwork for the Spanish national team’s presence in Mexico.

The Estadio Cuauhtémoc, owned by the State of Puebla, is home to Club Puebla and Cruz Azul of Mexico’s top division. With a capacity of 51,726 spectators, the stadium previously hosted matches during the 1970 and 1986 FIFA World Cups.

Under the slogan “Puebla, land of champions; the final test. Peru vs Spain”, this will be Spain’s second match in the state and their eighth in Mexico overall. Spain and Peru have met on three previous occasions, all ending in Spanish victories. Their most recent encounter took place on May 31, 2008, when the side coached by Luis Aragonés secured a 2–1 win in Huelva, shortly before going on to win UEFA EURO 2008 in Vienna.

Spain, the current European champions and number one in the FIFA World Ranking, begin their World Cup preparations this March ahead of the tournament to be held across Mexico, Canada, and the United States, and now have a clear roadmap leading into next summer’s global showpiece.
