Spain will bid to host the 2029 UEFA European Under-21 Championship
The Royal Spanish Football Federation has submitted its candidacy to host the tournament in its 2029 edition, as president Rafael Louzán informed the Board of Directors.
The Royal Spanish Football Federation has already presented its letter of intent to UEFA to bid for hosting the 2029 UEFA European Under-21 Championship.
Spain, which along with Italy holds the record for the most titles in the tournament’s history with a total of five championships, will face competition from Austria, the other country that has submitted its bid to European football’s governing body.
UEFA will announce its decision on December 6, 2026.
The only time Spain has hosted the Under-21 European Championship was in 1996, when the format was a knockout stage involving four national teams.
The next edition of the UEFA European Under-21 Championship will take place in 2027 and will be held in Serbia and Albania.
