The successful model of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), the Spanish national team and Spanish football as a global benchmark will be the focus of a presentation by RFEF Secretary General Álvaro de Miguel Casanueva. He will take part in the conference programme of the Ibero-American Impact Summit, which will be held at the United Nations headquarters in New York this Friday, 25 September 2026.

Sport, and football in particular, will feature prominently in one of the day’s sessions, with discussions covering economic development, equality, legacy and innovation. With Ibero-America at the heart of the conversation, the RFEF, represented by Álvaro de Miguel, will present the work and key initiatives developed by the Spanish football federation over the past two years.

The presentation will highlight the federation’s approach based on dialogue, collaboration, institutional cooperation and international engagement, as well as the role of football and sporting practice in generating broader social impact.

Particular attention will be given to the achievements of the Spanish national teams, current world champions in both men’s and women’s football, alongside the international reach of competitions such as the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup.

The Ibero-American Impact Summit, which is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year, takes place alongside the United Nations General Assembly and brings together global leaders to discuss progress towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The summit brings together heads of state, ministers, senior executives, change-makers and international organisations to develop new partnerships.
