Under the slogan “Football for Our Land” the Reino de León welcomed the four participating teams in a solidarity match aimed at raising funds and paying tribute to the professionals and volunteers who worked tirelessly to combat the fires.

The emotional evening began with the clubs sharing a special moment with supporters directly affected by the wildfires: each team selected several of them to join the players for a commemorative photograph. Just before kick-off, a minute’s silence was observed in memory of the victims of the disaster.

The first 45 minutes featured SD Ponferradina against Zamora CF. The match was closely contested, and only a goal by Borja Vázquez, ten minutes before the break, tipped the balance in favor of the team from El Bierzo.

The second half, between Cultural y Deportiva Leonesa and Ourense CF, was also preceded by a touching tribute. Members of the Forest Fire Reinforcement Brigades (BRIF) from Picos de Europa and Tabuyo del Monte received heartfelt recognition for their dedication during the catastrophe. Forming an honor guard on the pitch, they carried out the ceremonial kick-off for the remaining 45 minutes.

Much like the first half, the second was tightly contested. After a long stretch of stalemate, it was Piera who scored late on to give Ourense CF the decisive advantage.

At the final whistle, an afternoon and evening full of emotions came to a close—an event in which football once again served a charitable purpose. The greatest victory of the night was not on the scoreboard but in the outpouring of solidarity and support for those most deeply affected by the wildfires in Galicia and Castilla y León.
